Biography
Gunner H G Johnson was serving with the 37th Reserve Battery Royal Field Artillery and stationed at Norwich when he passed through Peterborough East Station on 21 July 1916.
Gunner H G Johnson has been narrowed down to one of two possible soldiers so far, Gunner Harry G Johnson, 135148, or Gunner Henry G Johnson, 150379. Both men served with the Royal Field Artillery but we are unable to locate service records for either soldier and therefore cannot make a positive identification by signature. A common surname like Johnson has also limited the opportunities for success in a search of census records.
The 37th Reserve Battery, identified in the book entry, was a training battery that provided replacements to active units in the UK and overseas as men completed their training.
