Biography

Private J Lowe passed through Peterborough East Station on 18 July 1916. He was serving with the 2/7 Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. No further information has been found on this soldier. According to the battalion movements below, Private J Lowe would probably have been stationed at Taverham in Norfolk in July 1916.

The 2/7th Battalion was formed at Stirling in September 1914, as a second line battalion. In January 1915, it was attached to 2nd A&SH Brigade, 2nd Highland Division. The battalion moved to Falkirk in August 1915, and to Angus for the winter. It became the 193rd Brigade in the 64th (2nd Highland) Division in October 1915 and was, No 11 Battalion between November 1915 and January 1916. The battalion moved to Norwich in March 1916, going on to Taverham (April), Norwich (October) and was disbanded in autumn 1917.  http://bit.ly/2mOzitR
